December 5, 2016, Santiago de Cuba, Cuba. Fidel Castro's ashes were laid to rest behind a plaque bearing only his first name. As per Fidel Castro's wishes, no statues, roads, parks or any other monuments will be named in his name. A law was passed by the Cuban government in this regard in the weeks following the funeral.
